May is recognized nationwide as Mental Health Awareness Month, an initiative supported by organizations such as Mental Health America (MHA) to promote emotional wellness, reduce stigma, and encourage people to prioritize their mental health just like they would their physical health.

At 107.5 JAMZ, we understand that life can move fast. Between work, family, finances, responsibilities, and the pressure to always “keep going,” many people carry stress silently every single day.

That’s why this month’s message is simple:

Checking in matters.

Mental Health Is Part of Overall Health

Mental health affects how we:

  • think

  • feel

  • cope with stress

  • connect with others

  • and make decisions in everyday life

Just like physical health, mental wellness requires attention, care, and support.

Everyone experiences difficult moments. Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally drained, or mentally exhausted does not make someone weak — it makes them human.

Breaking the Silence

For many communities, conversations around mental health have often been avoided or misunderstood. But the truth is, talking about mental wellness can help people feel seen, supported, and less alone.

Sometimes the strongest thing a person can do is:

  • ask for help

  • talk to someone they trust

  • or simply admit they’re struggling

There is strength in reaching out.

Small Steps Can Make a Big Difference

Protecting your peace and mental well-being can start with simple habits:

  • Get enough rest

  • Take breaks when needed

  • Spend time with supportive people

  • Step away from constant stress when possible

  • Exercise or stay active

  • Listen to music that uplifts your spirit

  • Talk to a counselor, therapist, or trusted friend

Even small moments of self-care can help restore balance.

Check In on Your People

One text message.
One phone call.
One honest conversation.

You never fully know what someone may be carrying internally. A simple “How are you really doing?” can mean more than people realize.

This month, we encourage the JAMZ community to look out for one another with compassion, patience, and understanding.

Music, Connection, and Healing

Music has always brought people together — helping us celebrate, reflect, heal, and push through difficult times. At 107.5 JAMZ, we believe community matters, conversations matter, and mental wellness matters.

This May, let’s continue creating spaces where people feel supported, encouraged, and heard.

Protect Your Peace. Prioritize Your Well-Being. Check In Often.

Because taking care of your mind is just as important as taking care of your body.
